About Boiler Prices

Connecting UK homeowners with trusted gas boiler specialists since day one.

A clearer starting point for boiler decisions

A boiler quote can include much more than the appliance on the wall. Flue access, a new gas run, cleaning the radiators and changing the controls can all affect the job. Boiler-prices.co.uk helps you work out what to ask about before you choose a heating business.

Boiler-prices.co.uk introduces homeowners to independent heating businesses. One online enquiry can lead to up to four quotations, depending on the job, postcode and engineer availability. We do not employ the engineers or carry out the work. Companies joining the network are asked for relevant insurance details and references; you should still check the firm you intend to appoint.

What we help homeowners compare

  • Gas Boiler Installation: A first-time installation gives a home a gas boiler and the connections it needs, rather than simply exchanging an appliance. It can mean replacing electric heaters with radiators, bringing mains gas into a renovation project or rebuilding worn-out central heating pipework.
  • Gas Boiler Replacement: A replacement exchanges an existing gas boiler for a new appliance while keeping suitable parts of the heating system. Staying in the same position can simplify the job, but the old flue, gas pipe and controls still need checking before anything is reused.
  • Combi Boiler Installation: A combi boiler supplies heating and heats mains water as it is needed. A combi swap is relatively contained work; converting a system or regular boiler can also involve removing a hot-water cylinder, redundant tanks and their pipework.
  • Gas Boiler Repairs: A repair starts with finding the cause of a fault. A lockout code, falling pressure or a cold tap can have several causes, so a diagnosis is needed before deciding which component, if any, should be replaced.
  • Gas Boiler Servicing: A boiler service is planned maintenance carried out to the manufacturer’s instructions. It includes inspecting the appliance and checking safe operation, with cleaning and component attention as specified for that model. It is useful even when heating and hot water seem normal.
  • Boiler Relocation: Relocation moves a boiler to a different position and changes the connections around it. A utility-room move may be straightforward; a loft or garage position needs careful thought about access, frost protection, flue routing and future maintenance.

An introduction, then a decision that stays with you

Describe the work in one online enquiry. Include the postcode and whether the boiler is working, being replaced or being moved. Available businesses may contact you to clarify the details, discuss a visit and provide their own quotations. A price based on photographs may still need a survey before it is confirmed.

You arrange the appointment, contract and payment with the business you choose. The enquiry itself is free and does not book an engineer. Ask about any diagnostic or survey fee before agreeing to a visit, particularly for a breakdown where the cause is still unknown.

Why the details behind a price matter

For a replacement, one quote might allow for a filter and a chemical clean while another proposes a powerflush after inspecting dirty system water. A conversion may include cylinder removal but exclude repairing the empty cupboard. Ask each engineer to describe the same scope so that the totals are useful to compare.

Boiler output also needs some explanation. The output used for domestic hot water is not the same question as the heat needed by the rooms. Discuss household routines, insulation and water flow instead of choosing the biggest model listed.

Checks before appointing an engineer

Gas work must be carried out by a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer. Check the current ID card and its work categories against the Gas Safe Register; a plumbing qualification alone is not enough for gas boiler work.

Ask about insurance relevant to the job, recent similar work and aftercare. Manufacturer accreditation can affect warranty options, but it is separate from Gas Safe registration. Work on an unvented cylinder needs appropriate competence for that system as well.

For an installation, replacement or move, ask who will handle the applicable notification and handover records. England and Wales use Building Regulations compliance certificates for notified boiler installations; Scotland and Northern Ireland have different procedures. The Building Regulations guidance explains the different routes. A warranty registration and a commissioning record are separate from building-control paperwork.

Keep the handover information together

Save the agreed quotation, invoice, commissioning record, applicable notification paperwork and warranty terms. Ask who registers the warranty and when the next service is due. If the work concerns a rented property, specify any landlord gas safety check separately; HSE landlord guidance explains those duties.
